Dr. McGovern is a highly trained Reproductive Endocrinologist and Medical Director of the fertility specialist team at University Reproductive Associates, a participating provider in the WINFertility Network.
Education and Certification
Dr. McGovern received his undergraduate degree from Siena College in Loudonville, NY and attended medical School at New York University School of Medicine in New York, NY.
He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYU-Bellevue Medical Center. He subsequently completed his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ.
He is double-board-certified in Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility and Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. McGovern is the Medical Director of University Reproductive Associates (URA), and an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, Women’s Health and Division Director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. He directs the fellowship program at UMDNJ, which is one of only a handful of training programs in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in the country. Fellows-in- Training are instructed by Dr. McGovern on both clinical and research topics.
He is a staff physician at Hackensack University Medical Center and Mountainside Hospital. He is a medical board examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in both obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
Dr. McGovern has been consistently voted one of Castle Connolly America’s Top Doctors and Top Doctors: New York Metro Area and has been the recipient of Patient’s Choice and a Compassionate Doctor Recognition Awards.
He is also the founder of Anonymous Egg Donation Program at UMDNJ, Oral Board Examiner in both general OB/GYN and RE, a reviewer for Fertility and Sterility, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology Metabolism. The author of numerous papers, he has been involved in multiple research initiatives including the Women’s Health Initiative and the Nation Institutes of Health-sponsored Reproductive Medicine Network, resulting in a landmark study of the treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome that was published in the New Engle Journal of Medicine.
Dr. McGovern has been in private practice for 22 years and brings that breath of experience to each and every one of his patients.
